Jennifer Breheny Wallace is the author of two New York Times bestsellers, Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic — And What We Can Do About It and Mattering: The Secret to a Life of Deep Connection and Purpose. She founded the Mattering Institute, which helps organizations foster cultures where people feel valued, and co-founded the Mattering Movement, a nonprofit promoting mattering in schools.
Wallace is a special advisor to University Health & Counseling at the University of Michigan and serves on its Well-being Collective Council. Additionally, she sits on the advisory board for Making Caring Common at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. A journalism fellow at the Center for Parent and Teen Communication at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Wallace also taught the NYU course Education, Mattering, and the American Dream: Understanding Achievement Culture.
A maternal mental health advocate at Calm, Wallace consults for companies including Netflix and Kahoot! and has partnered with the LEGO Group on its Play Unstoppable campaign. She began her career at CBS’s 60 Minutes, where her team won the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Journalism. Wallace lives in New York City with her family and serves on the board of the Coalition for the Homeless.
