Oona Metz, LICSW, is a Certified Group Psychotherapist and a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. She is the author of Unhitched: The Essential Divorce Guide for Women, a book for women navigating the emotional complexities of divorce. A graduate of Wesleyan University and Simmons School for Social Work, she is a psychotherapist and nationally known divorce expert with 30 years of clinical practice. Oona leads three weekly Divorce Support Groups and founded the Beacon Group Fellowship to train mental health clinicians across the country to lead these groups. Oona has written for outlets including Psychology Today, Psychotherapy Networker, The Los Angeles Review, Cognoscenti and Social Work Voice. She enjoys leading workshops on divorce, creative writing and group therapy, and has given over 100 presentations locally and nationally. Oona believes in the healing power of connection when women support each other as a way to reduce isolation, shame and stigma. Her Cognoscenti essay “Why Don’t We Talk–Really Talk–About Divorce?” was named one of the 5 Best Ideas Of The Day by the Aspen Institute and one of Cognoscenti’s Most Read Essays of 2023.
