A native of Poland, Sywak studied undergraduate marketing at the University of Connecticut and earned her MBA & PhD in Finance from Sacred Heart University. Her credentials include 18 years of experience with progressive responsibilities at US Trust and GE Capital in risk management, regulatory oversight, wealth management, team development and training. Her academic experience includes teaching graduate & undergraduate finance courses at Quinnipiac University, Caldwell University, and currently at the Villanova School of Business. An Associate Professor of Practice in Finance she is an innovative educator with a passion for teaching, research, and finance, bringing a unique set of skills to the classroom including financial industry performance and practical experience. Monika’s research focuses on financial markets, financial risk, and financial policy analysis. Her great passion outside of work is helping educate children in rural India. As a founder of a foundation raising funds to provide a proper learning environment, she also supports refugee students seeking asylum in Poland.
