Karen Sommers

Karen co-founded City Wide of Boston with Bob Sommers in 2008, bringing more than 15 years of experience in sales and sales leadership across the Boston and New York radio markets. Throughout her broadcasting career, she held positions with American Radio Systems and CBS/Infinity Broadcasting before launching a successful career as an independent radio sales consultant, partnering with both stations and clients. In 2002, Karen and Bob co-founded Smiling Kids Inc., a grassroots, 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing birthday gifts to children and teens in need throughout Massachusetts. Over the course of its mission, the organization delivered more than 20,000 birthday presents. The experience of building and growing such a successful nonprofit inspired Karen and Bob to pursue entrepreneurship, ultimately leading to the launch of City Wide of Boston. Today, Karen combines her entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for mentoring and empowering female leaders and entrepreneurs, with a special interest in helping women launch and grow businesses that are both sustainable and environmentally responsible. Karen is the proud mother of three young adult children and values the importance of family, community, and creating opportunities for others to succeed.
