The Silent Risk: Why Women’s Hearts Are Different

Kate FitzPatrick, DNP, RN, FAAN, is Executive Vice President and Connelly Foundation Chief Nurse Executive Officer for Jefferson Health, where she is the first nurse to hold an endowed leadership position. She also holds a dual academic appointment as Professor and Associate Dean for Nursing Academic Partnerships and Innovation at Jefferson College of Nursing.

A nationally recognized nurse leader, Kate brings deep expertise in trauma and emergency nursing and is an acute care nurse practitioner. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and, in 2025, was inducted as a Fellow of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership.

As Board President of the Philadelphia American Heart Association and a stroke survivor, Kate is a passionate advocate for women’s cardiovascular health. Her work is grounded in advancing awareness, prevention, and equitable care so that more women recognize their risks, prioritize their wellbeing, and have access to the support they need to live healthier lives.
