Dr. Joanna Vazquez

Dr. Joanna Vazquez, SPHR, SHRM-SCP—known to many as “Dr. Jo”—is a dynamic human resources leader, educator, and advocate for professional growth. She serves as President of Philly SHRM, the largest Human Resources affiliate in the tri-state area, where she guides the strategic direction and leads an extraordinary 25-member volunteer board dedicated to advancing HR professionals through learning, connection, and community partnership. A frequent attendee of the Pennsylvania Conference for Women, Dr. Jo deeply values the conference’s commitment to leadership, networking, learning, and self-care—and has personally benefited from its insights throughout her own career. She is also the host and executive producer of “HR Fresh Take,” a podcast now wrapping its fourth season and known for thoughtful conversations on the future of work, leadership, culture, and the evolving HR profession. Dr. Jo holds a Doctorate in Education, with research focused on educating new entrants to the HR profession. Her scholarship supports SHRM’s broader efforts to prepare emerging professionals for a dynamic and demanding field. She also serves as the Director of Human Resources for Behavioral Analysis and Therapy Partners in Bala Cynwyd and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Temple University.
