Denise Nakano is the midday anchor for KYW Newsradio, joining the station in 2020 after 17 years at NBC10. Her award-winning career has taken her to newsrooms in Sacramento, Seattle, Syracuse, and beyond. She’s covered major stories including Superstorm Sandy, the deadly Market Street collapse, and the Amtrak derailment. Denise was named the 2024 Pennsylvania Broadcaster of the Year and has earned a national Edward R. Murrow Award and eight Emmy Awards for breaking news, investigative reporting, and her coverage of the heroin crisis. She was honored with a Philadelphia City Council proclamation for her reporting on addiction. Denise began in radio at her college NPR station and has since worked in both radio and TV. She’s a proud member of the Asian American Journalists Association and a graduate of the University of the Pacific. Off the air, she enjoys drawing, stained glass, baking, scuba diving, and once completed the Seattle Marathon.
