Cher

Award-Winning Singer, Actress, Director, Author & Humanitarian

Cher has been an entertainment icon for more than six decades — a singer, actress, director, author, and humanitarian whose career remains unmatched. She is the only artist to have No. 1 hits in seven consecutive decades and one of the few performers to win an Academy Award, Grammy, and Emmy. Her career began in the 1960s with Sonny & Cher and their global hit “I Got You Babe.” She became a television star with the Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour and went on to major solo success with the Cher television show. In the 1980s, she transitioned to film, winning the Academy Award for Moonstruck after acclaimed roles in Silkwood, Mask, and The Witches of Eastwick. The 1998 global hit “Believe” redefined pop music and introduced Auto-Tune as a creative effect. Her albums BelieveLiving Proof, and Closer to the Truth extended her influence into the new millennium, while her Farewell Tour and Las Vegas residencies set box-office records. In 2018, she released Dancing Queen, an ABBA-inspired album that debuted in the U.S. Top 3 and sparked the successful Here We Go Again Tour. Her 2023 holiday album Christmas made her the only solo artist with Billboard chart success in seven consecutive decades. Cher was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2024, capping a long-awaited honor. That same year she released the first volume of her autobiography Cher: The Memoir – Part One, which became a No. 1 bestseller in both the United States and the United Kingdom at the same time, a feat very rarely accomplished. The second volume is expected in 2026. Cher remains one of the world’s top performing, recording and influential artists — a symbol of resilience and lasting cultural power.
