Ali Truwit is a Team USA Paralympic swimmer, advocate, and philanthropist committed to empowering people with limb loss. A former Yale University standout and four-year letter winner, she was a top distance freestyle competitor before a 2023 shark attack—just two days after graduation—resulted in the loss of part of her leg. Guided by extraordinary resilience and the lifesaving actions of a teammate, Ali returned to the water and, just one year later, qualified for the 2024 Paris Paralympics. There, she became a first-time Paralympian, earning two silver medals in the 400m Freestyle S10 and 100m Backstroke S10, and setting American records in both events. Beyond competition, Ali is a passionate voice for inclusion and water safety. She founded Stronger Than You Think, a nonprofit that donates prosthetics, promotes the Paralympic movement, and expands swim safety education—providing 11 prosthetics, nearly $200K in support, and more than 4,000 hours of lessons to over 700 young people. As a motivational speaker and content creator, Ali shares her story with authenticity, inspiring audiences at organizations like Forbes, Yale, and Bank of America. Her mission is simple and powerful: to show that strength is more than ability—it’s purpose, gratitude, and the courage to keep going.
