Part Time Freelance Podcast Technical Producer (Remote)

This is freelance, potentially short term (but potentially long term!) remote work for a women’s professional conference network. We produce a 30-minute interview-format podcast geared toward professional women that publishes 3x per month.

There is an editorial producer booking guests and guiding the show’s direction; the technical producer would be doing the work of getting the interview from concept to finished product.

The commitment is for approximately 6 hours of work per week for a flat monthly fee of $1,000.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Experience managing/producing a podcast
  • Great communication over email
  • Organized & able to independently set and track towards goals
  • Understanding of SEO
  • Extremely basic understanding of audio editing

Job description:

  • Ensure that guests are booked on time, allowing enough time for editing and review before episode is to be published. Guest contact info will be provided to you.
  • Schedule and execute technical/audio “tech checks” before recording to make sure everyone is prepared/sounds their best on remote recording day.
  • Sit in on interviews, recording guests in multitrack audio using Cleanfeed. (Occasionally, as needed)
  • Upload audio files for transcription and pull quotes for promotion.
  • Coordinate promo swaps or other audio clip inclusions.
  • Collate audio & text files and send to 3rd party for editing.
  • Communicate with guests to exchange thanks, desired resources & social accounts for show notes, and promotional assets once episode is published.
  • Produce and share promotional graphics, custom URLs, and pull quotes with podcast host and CFW team
  • Record download statistics 72 hrs, 30 days, and 60+ days after each episode is published.
  • Follow show performance and listener data on Blubrry, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Chartable, ListenNotes
  • Monitor social accounts (run by in-house social media)
  • Post transcript and detailed, SEO-friendly show notes for each episode. Follow best practices for encouraging listens, shares, and subscriptions. Track visitors & listener demographics (location, technology).
  • Increase linkbacks to page for SEO purposes; promote show in social groups and whenever the opportunity presents
  • Track podcast industry trends and news and make suggestions to continually improve product
